The Warriors travelled to Aberdare in glorious sunshine for what turned out to be a very good afternoon's rugby. Neither team could break each other down in the first ten minutes — some great defending from both sides — but Whitchurch eventually found the opening and scored two tries in quick succession to take control.

Aberdare answered back before the break to make it interesting, but Whitchurch went into half time leading 12–5 and with plenty still to give.

The second half started in the same tight fashion — neither team giving an inch. Then came the first champagne moment of the day: Jackson, a prop with the footwork of a back, broke the gain line, found a gap in the midfield and even threw in a cheeky goosestep on the way. The kind of run every prop dreams of.

Whitchurch kept the pressure on and continued to add tries, while Ollie and Logan provided the other champagne moments — both making try-saving tackles out wide to protect the lead when Aberdare threatened. Aberdare didn't stop competing though, pinning Whitchurch on their own try line for a good five minutes and pulling one back through a well-worked move out wide.

The last word went to Josh DG — a great run down the wing beating three defenders to score a well-deserved try and seal a commanding 43–10 win. A really strong team performance, and we look forward to welcoming Aberdare to Hailey Park later in the season. 🖤🤍
