Whitchurch travelled to Blackwood RFC with both squads having picked up new players since they last met — nobody quite knew what to expect. As it turned out, a good contest.
The Warriors started strongly with two quick tries from the backs to set the tone early. But Whitchurch were too slow at the breakdown, letting Blackwood turn the ball over too easily and get themselves back into the game with a few tries of their own. Credit to Blackwood — they kept competing and made Whitchurch work for it.
A short half-time chat sorted things out. The forwards came out in the second half working harder and securing the breakdown far better, and from there the Warriors were able to take control and run out 36–15 winners. A solid day at the office heading into a tough home game next week. 🖤🤍
