The Warriors faced a strong Pontypridd side in what proved to be a tough afternoon. Ponty hit the ground running, scoring twice in the opening 11 minutes with both conversions missed. They continued to build their lead through clinical finishing, extending to 17–0 and then 24–0 as the half wore on.

The Warriors finally got on the scoreboard late in the first half through a well-taken try from Theo, with Jay stepping up to convert and bring it back to 24–7. Ponty, however, had the last word of the half — crossing right on the whistle to lead 29–7 at the break.

The second half began in similar fashion as Ponty extended to 36–7, but the Warriors dug deep and showed real character in the closing stages. Ben crossed to make it 36–12, and despite Ponty hitting back again to 41–12, the boys refused to fold. Enzo Kawol and Elliott Simpson both scored in quick succession to bring the scoreline to a far more respectable 41–22 — meaning Whitchurch actually edged the second half 15–12.

A tough result against a very well-drilled Ponty side, but the spirit and fight shown in the second half was a real positive to take into the weeks ahead. 💪
