Match Report

A short trip into Newport to play the return fixture against Whiteheads, and after losing the home fixture the boys were eager to perform.

The game started tough, with Whiteheads really pushing our defence — but a great break from the backs with some really good running and offloading in the tackles gave us the extra man on the attack, and Tolis ran in the first try of the day.

Whiteheads responded and it was tit for tat, with tries constantly going back and forth — Rory, Ben and Elliott W all getting on the scoreboard in a pulsating contest. The Warriors actually went into half time leading 17–15, showing real character and quality in attack.

Unfortunately we just didn't perform like we wanted to in the second half, with almost every player dropping the ball at some point and a lack of support at the breakdown making hard work of it. Whiteheads took full advantage, hitting the front for the first time and converting a late try to seal a narrow 27–24 win. A game we'll look back on and know we could — and should — have won.

Plenty to take into training — but with four tries scored and some real quality moments, there's plenty of fight in this squad. 💪

Players of the Match

Two standout performers recognised by the coaching staff this week.

EK
Enzo Kawol ⭐
Excelling week on week — carried brilliantly and broke the defensive line more than a few times in each half, while also putting in a massive shift in defence. Whatever's changed recently, we like it!
EW
Elliott Williams ⭐
Great all-round performance — really competing well at the breakdown, getting around the pitch for the full 80 and looking dangerous in attack. Jumped like Superman from a breakdown to surprise the defence and bag himself a well-deserved try.
