Representing Whitchurch, Cardiff & Wales

Teams travel to the South Coast Festival from all over the UK. In April 2027, one of them will be coming from Cardiff.

For the lads, this is more than an end-of-season trip. Every time they pull the shirt on at Bognor they'll be carrying the name of their club, their city and their country onto an English pitch — in front of thousands of players, families and supporters who have never seen Whitchurch play.

These are the same boys who lifted the Pencoed Festival trophy as U14s, and who stopped a training session in August to put out a fire in the woods at Hailey Park. They know how to represent the badge. Now they get to do it a long way from home.

Up the 'Church. 🖤🤍

The Festival

One of the biggest mini & junior rugby festivals in the UK calendar.

South Coast Festival of Rugby 2027

The South Coast Festival of Rugby brings together young players from clubs right across the UK for a weekend of competitive rugby on the Sussex coast, with age groups running from U7 all the way through to U15.

It's hosted by Bognor Rugby Club, a thriving community club with a big mini and junior section and a reputation for hospitality. Thousands of players, families and supporters descend on the ground for two days of rugby, live music, food and entertainment.

  • Venue Bognor RFC, Hampshire Avenue, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 5JH
  • Age groups U7 – U15 (we're the top age group)

How the Weekend Works

Four days on the south coast, two days of rugby.

Friday 23 April

Travel & Arrive

Teams and families arrive from across the UK. Check in, settle into the resort and get ready.

Saturday 24 April

Group Stages

Three group matches to qualify for Sunday, played across morning and afternoon sessions within a three-hour window and following RFU age grade guidance. Live bands and DJ sets run all day at the festival stage.

Sunday 25 April

Finals Day

Final group stages, then quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals and play-offs. Presentations follow within 45 minutes of each final, with the MC calling teams up on stage to celebration music.

Monday 26 April

Home

Head back to Cardiff with the memories — and hopefully some silverware.

🏆 What's up for grabs

Depending on how many teams enter each age group, the festival runs two or three competitions — the South Coast Cup, the South Coast Challenge Cup and, in larger groups, the South Coast Trophy Cup. Medals go to every finalist, and the overall champions lift the South Coast Festival of Rugby 2027 Cup.

Beyond the Rugby

It's billed as a family weekend, not just a tournament — and it shows.

🎸

Live Music & DJ

A DJ runs from 10am through to the end of the day on Saturday, with live bands playing sets throughout the afternoon.

🦸

Action Heroes

The Caped Crusaders bring Batman, Spiderman and the Frozen princesses along for photos — back for their third year.

🎨

Face Painting

Free face painting on both days. No guarantee it'll only be the kids getting glittered.

🍔

Food & Drink Zones

The Bognor clubhouse is the main hub, with hot food, snacks and a well-stocked bar on a big patio facing the stage.

🏟️

Festival Atmosphere

Thousands of players, families and supporters in one place, with the stage barely 100 yards from the clubhouse patio.

🎖️

Every Player Gets a Medal

Presentations run on stage with celebration music. Bring cameras — the organisers are not exaggerating about this bit.

This Is What We're Raising For

The car washes, the buckets, the JustGiving page — all of it points here.

🚌

Whitchurch RFC U15s Tour Fund

We're raising money to get the squad to Bognor — and to lessen the financial burden on players' families, so that every single player gets the chance to go. No one should miss out on a tour like this because of what it costs.
